10 Tips and Tricks For CryEngines 3 Sandbox Interface

  1. Change resolution of the working space on the top right corner. Change according to your computer screen or computer specs to increase performance and increase productivity.
  2. Use the search tool next to where you adjust the resolution on the top right of your view port to search and single out different objects.
  3. At the bottom of the view port is another status bar. This status bar shows what objects or how many objects are selected. You can lock the selected objects to isolate and only work with the selected objects.
  4. The AI/Physics button is located on the bottom status bar. Once turned on it gives the objects and the environment its physical features such as a boat floating and rocking on water.
  5. Terrain Clipping is a very useful tool located on the bottom status bar. It is a small icon which can be turned off and on and it functions by turning the terrain into a physical entity rather than just diving right through. This tool doesn't work with objects, you will still move through objects in the editing mode.
  6. Top left corner of the working space is a 'Perspective' button. This can be used to view the working space in different styles such as 'Wireframe' and 'Point Mode'.
  7. Right-click on the sandbox interface to access more tool bars.
  8. Move tool on the interface marked with arrows pointing in 4 directions, can be used to move objects precisely by clicking on the colour arrows when the move tool is activated on an object.
  9. To add an object and make it follow the terrain, there is a very useful tool called the 'Follow Terrain' tool. This tool combined with the move tool gives you the ability to move an object and have it follow the terrain as it dips or heightens.
  10. Another useful tool is to have objects snap to each other whilst following the terrain. This tool is marked right next to the follow terrain tool adding the ability for the objects being moved to be snapped onto other objects.
